One of the most important thing that effects our life today is the mythology category. A lot of our things that I have in my life today come from mythology. For example one of the biggest sports brands is Nike. Nike is the greek goddess of victory. Without Greek mythology Nike would not be a brand, and I would not have a lot of my clothes or shoes. Also other brands came from mythology too. Some examples are Pandora, Amazon, Starbucks, and Gatorade. One thing that ties into our life at Glidden-Ralston is we play the Exira- Elkhorn Kimbleton Spartans. Spartan is from Greek mythology to. Without Greek mythology their mascot would not be a Spartan. That is only one example on how mythology effects our lives today. One more example is the Olympics. In ancient Greek time periods, they values sports, just like we do today. Even though our olympics are a little bit different, they are still similar to the Greek's Olympics. Today we have two different sets of Olympics. We have the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics. Our Olympic games last longer than the ancient Greek's did, and we have more events than they did back then. Some of the events are the same though. Like track and field events. Men and women can now participate in the Olympics, unlike back in the ancient Greek time period.
The second thing that has the biggest effect on our lifestyle is the alphabet. Some of the Greek letters resemble the letters we have in today's lifestyle. The letters A,B,E,Z,H,I,K,M,N,P,T,Y in our English alphabet come from the letters of the Greek alphabet. I think that teaching Greek lifestyle in our school is very important. If we did not teach the things that came from the Greek lifestyle, we could never teach children how to write. Since majority of our letters come from the Greek alphabet, it has a big effect on our life. Also in school, if they did not teach things that came from Greek lifestyle, we could not learn some of the things in math. For example the symbols we use in math from the Greek language are the Delta, Theta, Pi, and Sigma. Without these signs, some of the things we learn in algebra would not be able to be taught in schools.
The final thing that I think has the biggest effect on our lifestyle is the Golden Age. On this page a lot of the stuff during this time period carries over into our life today. For example the way we see history is changed and influenced by the Greek people during this time period. The things we study in school are even effected by Greek history. For example we have to look at both sides of the argument during classes. You do not have to agree with the other side, but you have to see where they are coming from. Also historians today have to use evidence and artifacts to study history. Another thing that happened during Classical Greece is advances in physics. Without the Greek people, we would not be able to teach the stuff we learn in physics. We would not be able to teach the Law of buoyancy or Archimedes Screw. Another thing that they would not be able to teach in geometry is Pythagorean Theorem or the Quadratic equation. Without this time period, we also would not have the Hippocratic Oath. This is the oath that the doctors have to say to become a doctor.
In conclusion I think that the Greek lifestyle should be taught in school, because a lot of the Ancient Greek lifestyles are present in our life today!!
