Greece is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea on 3 sides. Ancient Greece is considered a Peninsula. Ancient Greece also has little islands that are part of the city-states. Greece's land is surrounded by mountains. This means that some of the city-states were not by each other, they were separated by mountains. This effected the Greek culture. The city-states were not close to each other as a nation, they were separated. Also the land effects the Greek people because they became fishers since they are surrounded by water.
